Manufacturing Execution System

The Manufacturing Execution System as a Service Core is a time-invariant, event-based sequence orchestrator of production processes, based on monitored statuses of resources. It controls the synchronization with the cyber-physical systems (CPS) and real-time acknowledges other system components about the occurring events.

It provides a visual tool for the editing and manageing of process plans to be executed by the MESS Core. The overall MESS GUI also embodies the inventory of the cells functionality and every registered CPS is accessible and transparent with drag-and-drop feature to help users’ interaction.

Production Administration Shell is in charge of connecting and managing the CPS digital twin service model towards the MESS Core. The PAS represents the I4.0 compliant twinning counterpart of a generic production CPS, in which the latter is in control of the physical devices. The great advantage of this CPS Twinning solution is that, regardless of the specific method chosen by the designer for their CPS integration, once connected to the MESS Core via the PAS, the overall system seamlessly provides a standardized OPC UA-equivalent transformation of the CPS service and information model to the external world.

Lowest level (entry-point) of integration into the MESS for a device driven by an AnyLogic simulation model.

Lowest level (entry-point) of integration into the MESS for a physical IoT device.

Lowest level (entry-point) of integration into the MESS for a device serving only a software endpoint (SaaS). No physical counterpart is needed on the shop-floor.
